Watching the first half of this Virginia vs Colorado State game was a sight for sore eyes.

Itās no secret that Virginia these days is known much more for their suffocating defense more than anything they do on the offensive side of the ball. Last night the Cavaliers played the Colorado State Rams in the First Four.

If I told you at halftime Virginia had held the Rams to 27 points you would probably ask āWow so much were they up byā. They were not up, they were instead DOWN BY 13! Iāll do the math for you, the score at halftime was 27-14.

14! Middle School recess games usually have more than 14 points in a period. The Cavaliers did not score a field goal for the last 10 minutes and 30 seconds of the half. Ugly.Ā

They were able to tack on 28 more points in the second half to end with a total of 42. They will not be in the Round of 64 of the tournament after Colorado St. was able to get the win, 67-42, so no need to worry. Will there still be low-scoring games? Absolutely. But I think it's safe to say 14 points is about as low as the bar can go.
