If you watched the end of the Houston-Texas A&M game last night you watched an absolute treat. The Aggies were dead in the water with a minute left but somehow rallied to make it a one-possession game with ten seconds left on the clock. A jump ball with 1 second remaining gave the ball under Houston's basket and Buzz Williams brought out the whiteboard.
It looked like the first and second option got taken away but a low bounce pass to Andersson Garcia at the top of the key allowed him to catch and shoot. Nothing but net. We got OT.
OT was just as crazy with players fouling out every possession. By the end of OT Houston was playing with 1 starter on the court. This meant others had to step up, including Senior Walk-on Ryan Elvin!
When Ryan stepped onto the court he had a calm demeanor but inside he was most likely running in circles. You just knew one way or another he was going to have to do something. The Cougars were up 3 with less than 30 seconds remaining and Elvin was fouled. He was heading to the charity stripe where all he needed to do was make one.
This seemed out of a movie. First one...clank.
The second one...nothing but net.
On the box score, all it will say is 1 minute and 1 point for Ryan Elvin, but without him who knows what happens to the (1) Seeded Cougars.
The Stump sees you Ryan! Good shot!
