[3/31/24] UConn Continues to Dominate with 30-0 Run

Updated: Jul 2

UConn's Donovan Clingan amidst a 30-0 run against the Illinois Fighting Illini in their Elite Eight matchup

The UConn Huskies had their Elite 8 matchup last night against the Illinois Fighting Illini. With every round in the tournament, it seems like we are just waiting for the Huskies to finally struggle, or be in a close game down the stretch.

We're going to have to keep waiting. What happened last night was crazy. Illinois went down 9 early in the game, which seems to be a pattern for teams that play UConn. However, they were able to fight back and tied the game up at 23 with 2 minutes left in the first half.

Over the course of the next 12 minutes of game clock, UConn went on....a 30-0 run. That's not a typo, not a mistake, only crazy. Watching the Huskies all year they have become known for one run at some point in the game where they blow the game wide open. Sometimes this happens in the first half, like it did against Stetson and Northwestern. Other times it happens in the second half, you can ask San Diego St. and Illinois all about that one.

The Huskies steamroll into the Final Four where they will now face off against Alabama, which should be their toughest opponent yet. Alabama already knocked off (1) North Carolina and can score about as many points as anybody in the country.

All eyes move to next Saturday to see whether or not UConn continues this sheer dominance or if Alabama can stand in their way, with just a ticket to the National Championship on the line!
