[5/25/24] A Look Back At The First STUMP HERO: Naz Reid 🏀

Updated: Jul 1, 2024

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY

The day was March 9th and Timberwolves all around GOAT Naz Reid was barely getting any love for 6th man of the year. He was fourth or fifth down the list and it seemed like the only people talking about him outside of Minnesota were your friendly neighborhood Stumpers.

Here’s a look back at our March 9th Stump Story:

“If you don’t know Naz Reid, you’re welcome in advance.

Nazreon Hilton Reid was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and at 24 years young has become one of the most electric players in the NBA. Naz was a 2018 McDonald’s All-American and took his talents to LSU. He went undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft and it’s safe to say 30 teams missed out that day.

He is a key reason for the Timberwolves’ success this year and should absolutely be getting more love in the sixth man of the year conversation. Last night in a loss against the Cavs, Naz dropped a career-high 34 points in 32 minutes with 7 threes. Listed at 6-foot-9, he looks more like a 7-footer and plays like a guard.

Naz Reid has become a staple of the stump community with his play style and this is your ticket to the show before he officially blows up.

NAZ REID. STUMP HERO. WATCH OUT.”

Well, there it was. Last night Naz was an absolute flamethrower from beyond the arc in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals and was one of the only reasons his team maintained a lead against Dallas up until the final few seconds.

Also since that post, Naz did go on to win the 6th Man OTY award. It’s been fun to watch Naz grow this year and we hope to see it continue.
