What to know: When the Arizona Coyotes packed up shop and moved to Utah, it was an understanding that the team would be named the âUtah Hockey Clubâ for their inaugural season. Many suspected that the teamâs name would be the âUtah Yetisâ moving forward (sick), but the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected the names and logos that Utah had submitted for approval.
Now, Utah has changed paths. The club will now select its new name via a fan vote that will take place in-house at Utahâs next four home games. There are three finalists, and fans will be able to vote on tablets stationed around the Delta Center. Here are the three options:
Utah Hockey Club: Stick with whatâs working!
Utah Mammoth: One of the options from the original fan vote, pretty good. I mean, itâs not Yeti, but itâs good
Utah Wasatch: The Yeti workaround! This refers to the Wasatch mountain range in Utah, known for its ski resorts. This will allow the team to use a âmythical snow creature in the form of a Yetiâ as its mascot.
Which one do you think should be the name of the Utah hockey organization moving forward?
