What to know: When the Arizona Coyotes packed up shop and moved to Utah, it was an understanding that the team would be named the “Utah Hockey Club” for their inaugural season. Many suspected that the team’s name would be the “Utah Yetis” moving forward (sick), but the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected the names and logos that Utah had submitted for approval.

Now, Utah has changed paths. The club will now select its new name via a fan vote that will take place in-house at Utah’s next four home games. There are three finalists, and fans will be able to vote on tablets stationed around the Delta Center. Here are the three options:

  1. Utah Hockey Club: Stick with what’s working!

  2. Utah Mammoth: One of the options from the original fan vote, pretty good. I mean, it’s not Yeti, but it’s good

  3. Utah Wasatch: The Yeti workaround! This refers to the Wasatch mountain range in Utah, known for its ski resorts. This will allow the team to use a “mythical snow creature in the form of a Yeti” as its mascot.

Which one do you think should be the name of the Utah hockey organization moving forward?
