La Quinta... isn't that a hotel?

The PGA tour heads back onto the U.S. mainland as The American Express hits the ground running on Thursday Morning. This week, we head out to La Quinta, California to see some of the best in the business tee it up at three different courses in southern California and the Coachella Valley.

One of America’s most beloved golfers takes his first tee box of the PGA Tour Season tomorrow as Justin Thomas looks to bounce back from an excruciatingly painful 2023 campaign. He’ll be teeing off with another beloved American, Rickie Fowler, who finally found the promised land after a tough fought few years on the Tour. Maybe they can chop it up on the fairway and share pointers, we all know Justin needs it this year.

The world's most calm and prolific golfer, Scottie Scheffler, heads into the week as World No. 1 and looks to start collecting FEDEx points early on in the running. Other notable names taking on the Coachella Valley’s best are the best of Ireland: Shane Lowry, Ryder Cup Risers Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, Father First Tony Finau, Jason Day, Will Zalatoris, Tom Kim, and the Australian assassin Min Woo Lee.

Daniel Berger. Who? Yes, that Daniel Berger: Four Time tour winner who missed the cut at the U.S. Open in 2022 and has been off the tour for 18 months dealing with a bulging back, is officially back! He also hired a caddy off of a wrong number phone call. What can go wrong?

The courses should be in prime position for some stupid low scorecards, so we’re officially on 59 watch this weekend. Look for elite ball strikers like Scottie, Min Woo, Tony Finau, Tom Kim, among others to take advantage of these newly updated courses in the heat of the desert.

Sahith Theegala, is my sleeper to have a strong weekend. He attended nearby Pepperdine University, and has been a Tour favorite since his appearance on the Netflix Series “Full Swing”. He’s played in the valley before and will surely have some familiarity with the area.

I’ll personally be sitting on the couch looking for some sign of a pulse from Justin Thomas. Maybe even a few under-par scorecards? I don’t want to get ahead of myself, Justin just tugs on my heart strings.
