It’s still REALLY early, but the Cavs have taken the term ā€˜hot start’ to a whole other level…

There’s no doubt that the beginning of the season will be a huge indicator of how the season will go for an NBA team. It’s not always the case, but a hot start can catapult you into the rest of the season. It sparks confidence, good team chemistry, and creates a culture of winning. Only 2 teams remain undefeated as we get through the first couple weeks of the season, but this team in particular has really got my attention.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a really solid team the last few years, with Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland leading the way, the Cavs have always played well in the regular season. This year, the Cavs are 5-0 to start the year, which includes their 134-110 trouncing of the LA Lakers. On the night when Lebron and Bronny return to the city they once called home, it was all about the Cavs.

Donovan Mitchell has always been really solid in his time in Cleveland, but the ups and downs of the players around him has always been their downfall. Early this season, Darius Garland has been really solid, stepping up in big moments and taking over the game when he need to. Evan Mobley, always known for his defensive prowess, has finally started to figure it out on the offensive end. He led all scorers with 25 points last night.

What really has been the difference is the bench, Caris LeVert has been a strong scorer off of the bench for almost all of his career, but the growth and health of Ty Jerome, Isaac Okoro, and others has really benefited this team. Don't forget, this is a team that will get Max Struss back from injury in a few weeks.

The Cavs are red hot, they’ve won their first 5 games by 30, 12, 19, 6, and 24, and have yet to score under 110 points, including three games over 134 points. Sure, will this team probably cool off? Yeah, probably. But they have a killer instinct nobody has seen in Cleveland since the King himself wore his crown there.
