[5/18/24] Wild Friday for Scottie Scheffler! Here’s What Happened!

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY

Wild Friday for Scottie Scheffler! Here’s What Happened!

Wild Friday for Scottie Scheffler

Talk about a wild day for the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler. He has been on an absolute tear these last few months, and it looked like nothing could stop him from being in the thick of every single tournament he showed up. Well if yesterday didn’t stop him from going down, I just don’t know what will.

Yesterday morning on his way to Valhalla Golf Course for Day 2 of the PGA Championship, Scottie Scheffler was arrested for driving around an accident. At 7:28 AM he was placed in handcuffs and put in a jail cell for ‘second-degree assault of a police officer and reckless driving/disregarding traffic signals’. Yeah you read that completely right. Just hours before one of his biggest rounds of the year that happened.

He was put in a jail cell, and miraculously was able to get the situation handled and make his 10:08 AM ET tee time. Later we found out in his press conference that in the off chance he would still be able to make his tee time, he started his stretch routine in his jail cell!

Talk about locked-in! That’s insane!

The average Joe like myself would think Scottie would be all messed up in the head after something like that happened right before a major event. But that’s why I’m an average Joe. Not only was he unfazed…but he was DIALED!

He got to the course with 50 minutes to spare, hit a couple of balls on the range, a couple of putts, and then went to the 10th tee to start his round. Naturally, he started his day with a birdie. By looking at him throughout the round you would have no clue what had just happened. But if you saw the patrons with shirts with his mugshot on it that might’ve tipped you off.

Scottie shot a 66 yesterday and is now T-4 at -9, and is VERY much in this tournament.

If you needed to know about Scottie in a nutshell, this next quote is it. When asked about his experience in the morning he said this, “I was pretty rattled to say the least. The officer that took me to the jail was very kind, he was great. We had a nice chat in the car and that kind of calmed me down.” He went on to say he never name-dropped himself once to get out of the situation.

He could’ve said a lot there but instead he just praised the officers that arrested him.

I thought I couldn’t like this guy anymore. Then he got arrested and my opinion changed. Funny how that works. Go win another Scottie!
